Most of the information I have about Francesca is from secondary sources, rather than direct information about herself.

She is one of my maternal 3 x great-grandmothers.

Francesca’s birth is elusive. She was the daughter of Giuseppe Casha and Antonia née Portelli.

I have no information on where she is born, or when, however:

• Wedding details usually indicate if one of the partners is from another parish, and there is no trace of this in her wedding details¹. This suggests she was living in, perhaps born in, Valletta.
• She married in 1851², making her date of birth no later than the early 1830s.

Family

On Saturday 19 April 1851³, she married Giuseppe Grech⁴ at the Basilica of Our Lady of Safe Haven⁵.

Together they had one child I know of:

• Rosaria.

Notable events

She lived in Valletta after marriage because this is where her daughter was born⁶. Her last known address was 327 St Paul’s Street, Valletta, Malta⁷.

Death

I have no information on when, where of how she died.

I do know she was still alive in 1895 when her husband died⁸.
