Gio Maria was born and lived under British rule, in the rural neighbouring Maltese localities of Źebbug and Attard.

He is one of my paternal 3 x great-grandparents.

He was born on Tuesday 10 January 1809 in Żebbug, Malta¹ the son of Giuseppe and Veneranda Bugeja². His parents baptised him the day after in the parish church of Żebbug as Giovanni Maria Saverio Filippo³.

Family

On Sunday 29 April 1838⁴ he married Maria Sammut⁵ in the parish church of Attard⁶.

Together they had 7 children I know of:

Notable events

Residence

He was a Żebbug resident till he married^{7 8}.

He later lived in Attard because that is where his daughter was born⁹.

Occupation

In 1864, he declared himself to be an Agricoltore¹⁰ (EN: Farmer).

Death

I have no details about his death, but given societal norms in Malta at the time it is probable he died and was buried in Attard.

I only know he was still alive in 1880 when his granddaughter was born¹¹.
