Giorgio is one of those people whose life is documented through a series of entries in church registries, as often happened in Malta.

He is one of my maternal 6 x great-grandfathers.

He was born on Tuesday 31 August 1728¹ in the parish of St Paul Shipwreck², Valletta Malta³. He was the son of Giuseppe Darmenia⁴ and Diana Foti⁵. Reverend Joseph Gucciardus⁶ baptised him the day after⁷ in the parish church as Carol Pietro Giorgio⁸.

Carol is the only of Giuseppe and Diana’s sons to have Giorgio as a second name. All references to him later in life refer to “Giorgio” which is where the connection lies. I have yet to establish that this is clearly him and not one of his brothers.

Family

On Thursday 18 January 1748⁹ Giorgio married Margherita Gerada¹⁰ in Zejtun, Malta¹¹.

Notable events

While I don’t know when he died, if he were alive between 1798 – 1800, during the French occupation, he would have been a French citizen.

Death

I don’t where he died, when or how.  I also don’t know where he is buried.
