I know little about Giuseppe Darmenia because few records exist.

He is my 5 x great-grandfather.

He was born in Malta after 1748, son of Giorgio Darmenia and Margherita Gherarda^{1 2}.

Family

On 28 January 1776 Giuseppe Darmenia married Margherita Gatt in Vittoriosa, Malta³. Margherita was the daughter of Nicola and Maria Cristina⁴.

On Wednesday 08 January 1806⁶ he married Maddalena Bugailas⁷ in Vittoriosa, Malta⁸. Rev John Mizzi officiated at the wedding in the Roman Catholic Church of St Lawrence Collegiate Church⁹.

Notable events

For the period 1798 – 1800, during the French occupation, he was a French citizen.

Death

He died between January 1806 and August 1808, because his second wife re-married by then¹⁰.

I don’t know where he died, how or where they buried him.
