Salvatore lived to the ripe old age of 85. Like most 19th century people, he lived in Valletta as it evolved under British rule.

He is one of my maternal 3 x great-grandfathers.

He was born in 1803 or 1804¹ in Valletta, Malta².

He is the son of Paolo Cremona³ and Maria Antonia Borg⁴.

Family

On Sunday 13 January 1833⁵, he married Concetta Debono⁶⁷ in the Roman Catholic Church of St Paul’s Shipwreck⁸ in Valletta, Malta. Reverend Joseph Cremona officiated the wedding⁹.

Together they had 2 children I know of:

Notable events

He was a Valletta resident at marriage¹⁰, and lived there till he died¹¹. His last known address was 53 Strada Levante (EN: East Street), Valletta.

Salvatore worked as a Negoziante¹² (EN: Shopkeeper) but it is not clear what kind of shop he had. It is reasonable to assume his shop was in Valletta, and just as reasonable to assume it was on the southern, i.e., Grand Harbour side of Valletta.

Death

He died at 23:45¹³ on Monday 27 May 1889¹⁴ at his home in Valletta, Malta¹⁵. He died of heart disease¹⁶ but given 19th century diagnostic medicine this could have been a wide range of things. His family buried him at the Maria Addolorata Cemetery¹⁷ in Marsa, Malta.
