Details are scarce about this 18th century ancestor of mine, but she did live in the burgeoning suburb of Valletta, now called Floriana.

She is one of my maternal 3 x great-grandmothers.

She was the daughter of Salvatore Debono1 and Antonia née Psaila2.

Since her parents married in 1794 she can’t have been born earlier than 1795.

On Sunday 13 January 18333, she married Salvatore Cremona4 in the Roman Catholic Church of St Paul’s Shipwreck5 in Valletta, Malta. Reverend Joseph Cremona officiated the wedding6.

Together they had 2 children I know of:

  • Vincenzo
  • Ludgarda Ersilia Lara Leonida Sophia Gratia Vincentia.

Notable events

For the period 1798 – 1800, during the French occupation, she was a French citizen. It’s reasonable to think she was already born by then, but until I get clear evidence of this I won’t know for sure.

She lived in Floriana at the time she married7. Since her daughter was born in Floriana, she lived there at least for the first few years after marriage.

Death

While I have no further information on how or where she died, I know she was dead in 1912 when her daughter died8.
