We know little about Ranulf I’s wife, Bilichildis. She was the daughter of nobility but the chronicles of the time document little of her.

She is my 30 x great-grandmother.

Bilichildis1 was the daughter of Count Rorrick II of Maine and his wife Bilihildis2. It’s probable she was born in Maine because her father was a Count there, but I haven’t found records to prove this.

We don’t know when she was born but, since she married in 8453 I estimate she was born in the 820s.

Titles

As wife of the Count of Poitiers, she would have held the title of Countess of Poitiers.

As wife of the Duke of Aquitaine, she would have held the title of Duchess of Aquitaine.

I have not yet found any record showing she held either of these titles.

Family

In 8453, she married Count Ranulf of Poitiers (Later Duke Ranulf I of Aquitaine). Together they had one son, Ranulf who later became Duke Ranulf II of Aquitaine.

Death

We don’t know where, when or how she died.

Lineage

She is my 30th x great-grandmother.
