Rorrick, also known as Rorick1 , or Rorgo2, was born in Maine, France, the son of Gauslin of Maine and his wife Adeltrudis2. There is no information on when he was born.

Titles

Rorick was the Count of Maine1 2 and part of modern-day Brittany1. It’s not clear if these were two independent counties at the time. He inherited this title from his father.

Family

Sometime after the year 800, Rorick married Bilihildis1 2, and had four or five children together2:

  1. Rorrick, later Rorrick II of Maine.
  2. Geoffrey, who fought the Vikings.
  3. An unnamed daughter, who the Pope excommunicated.
  4. A daughter, Bilichildis1 who married Ranulf I of Poitiers.
  5. A son, Gauslin, who was a religious man.

In 833, Rorrick donated a monastery in Anjou to Emperor Louis I2.

Louis is also an ancestor of mine. Rorrick’s daughter Bilihilde married Louis’ grandson Ranulf.
